Introduced in 1978.

A tried and tested general purpose potato. Romano is making a comeback because it has good looks combined with disease resistance. Its blight tolerance and slug resistance are particularly useful. Mild flavour and good texture, suitable for a wide range of uses. Tubers are red, short and oval. Blight resistance is good, Scab resistance is moderate. Susceptible to Eelworm (PCN.
