Garden Centre
Lealans Garden Centre has been growing on its current site since 1935, when Frederick William Lealan purchased the land just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
Alongside the nursery, the family spent many years trading on Wolverhampton’s outdoor market before concentrating fully on the garden centre during the late 1970s.
The Third Generation
Today, the business is run by Peter and Ann, the third generation of the Lealan family. Over the years they have overseen significant improvements and expansion, helping to develop Lealans into the garden centre it is today while maintaining its strong family values and focus on quality plants.
Ann’s daughter Heather also plays an active role at Lealans. As the fourth generation of the family to work at the garden centre, she continues a family tradition that has now spanned more than 90 years, having been involved in the business from an early age.
The outdoor shrub area was completely rebuilt in the late 1990s and now offers an extensive range of shrubs, climbing plants, conifers, roses and trees. In 2004, a new purpose-built entrance and driveway were opened to improve access, and in 2007 the indoor plant area was refurbished with new flooring and display benches. During the 2010s, the shop underwent a full refurbishment, creating a brighter, more modern retail space while enhancing the shopping experience for customers.
We also remember those who played such an important part in the garden centre’s history. Elizabeth sadly passed away in April 2010, and Phyllis, James’ widow and a much-loved member of the family and business, sadly passed away in 2024.
While our range has expanded over the years to include garden furniture, barbecues, giftware and seasonal Christmas products, plants remain at the heart of everything we do. With over 90 years of growing experience, we continue to pride ourselves on our horticultural knowledge, quality plants and friendly, helpful service.
As an independent family-run garden centre, we remain committed to the values that have guided us since 1935, while continuing to invest in the future for generations to come.

Saturday 9.00am – 5.30pm
Sunday 10.00am – 4.30pm
